The Rafiki team hosted their latest event to help guide attendees through the current IT security landscape while having fun racing the track at Speeder’s Pro Karts. We chose the title of the event “Taking the Driver’s Seat in Cybersecurity” because we want people to really start to think about taking ownership of their own cybersecurity measures and practises.

We hear about cyber attacks on a daily basis (there is a hacker attack every 39 seconds to be exact) but people think it will never happen to them. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.

After taking a race around the track, we gathered to have a casual discussion about cybersecurity and the risks businesses face when they don’t have a proper plan in place.

Things to consider when planning your business’s cyber security practises:

Do we have an official cyber-attack response strategy?
Do we know who to call if we are threatened?
Do we know where to report a data breach or cyberattack?
How often is our data backed up?
How much downtime can we afford to lose?
Have we properly trained our staff about potential vulnerabilities to avoid?

Nearly any electronic device can be hacked and attackers can access devices from anywhere on the planet!
